Hi Derek,
I love the Henry Ford quote. It’s in the little things that can mean the difference between greatness and mediocrity. And this also reminds me that there really are no little things – it all counts.

A very uplifting post, seeing all these great quotes!

Hi Derek,
Thanks for these great quotes! I like the Steve Jobs one. It needs time and thinking to know what’s my own life, then it needs another courage and wisdom to live the life. It is always easily said than done, but it just worth all the effort!

Also, it would be nice if you can give a short intro to these guys :)

I’m always a sucker for a good Warren Buffett quote. A favorite of mine from him is “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.”

Great collection! Nothing like smart quotes from smart guys to get me going in the morning! My favorite is #1. So many people think having a college education is mandatory for success, but there’s so much more to the equation that is never taught in school.

@YFNCG My favorite is easily #1 too. There are so many people who don’t understand that school isn’t everything. They need to stop wasting their time on seminars and teach it to themselves. IF they don’t know where to start, the seminars should be the precursor to your real learning.

Love the Jim Rohn quote quote. So many people think they can go to school and make a lot of money. It’s the people who take their knowledge maximize their creativity to make something fresh that lead the pack.

Derek… he was one of the big honchos in the Mexican Revolution… Emiliano Zapata (Salazar) – I originally saw the quote on a sign I think…

Those are good. I’ll share a few of my personal favorites.

First say to yourself what you would be; then do what you have to do.
– Epictetus

Time is the sole capital of people whose only fortune is their intelligence.
- Honore deBalzac

You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.
- Apple and Pixar founder, Steve Jobs

I believe in…mastering the best that other people have figured out, [rather than] sitting down and trying to dream it up yourself.
- Charlie Munger, Warren Buffett’s partner in Berkshire Hathaway

“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”
- e.e. cummings

“You can do so much in ten minutes’ time. Ten minutes, once gone, are gone for good. Divide your life into ten minute units and sacrifice as few of them as possible.” – Ingvar Kamprad, Ikea founder

“Everyone has a purpose in life. Perhaps yours is watching television.”
- David Letterman

Here is one of my all time favorites:

At this point it may be useful to observe that a certain type of minor
intellect is always worrying itself and others by discussion as to the
applicability of technical terms. Are the incommensurable numbers
properly called numbers? Are the positive and negative numbers really
numbers? Are the imaginary numbers imaginary, and are they numbers?
These are types of such futile questions. Now, it cannot be too
clearly understood that, in science, technical terms are names
arbitrarily assigned, like Christian names to children. There can be
no question of the names being right or wrong. They may be judicious
or injudicious; for they can sometimes be so arranged as to be easy to
remember, or so as to suggest relevant and important ideas. But the
essential principle involved was quite clearly enunciated in
Wonderland to Alice by Humpty Dumpty, when he told her, apropos of his
use of words, “I pay them extra and make them mean what I like” So we
will not bother as to whether imaginary numbers are imaginary, or as
to whether they are numbers, but will take the phrase as the arbitrary
name of a certain mathematical idea, which we will now endeavour to
make plain.

@John I know he wasn’t a great man, but he sure was a great business man. Most of these rich people from the past were bad men in life, but they were far ahead of their time in business and that’s what I appreciate about them.

Hi Derek,
I love all these quotes. I sometimes share stuff like this on my own blog because I think it is truly motivational – but I have to say that the Vince Lombardi quote actually “stung” a little bit – I have been there myself in the past, so recognized myself – and fortunately I realized it before my whole life went down the tubes: “Winning is a habit. Unfortunately so is losing.” Those are exceptionally true words. The problem is, a lot of times someone gets caught up in a negative emotional place – sometimes without even noticing that he or she has gotten “stuck that way,” and so begins to just expect the usual outcomes, which, of course would be negative.

Also, Lee Doolan (above) quoted Alfred North Whitehead. Many years ago, when I first began understanding success principles, I had a small business card printed up with this quote of Whitehead’s: “Ideas won’t keep – something must be done with them” (or words to that effect). That call to action is still one of the key pieces to any business success.

Thank you for getting my brain pumping! :)
Kath

If you want to succeed, learn from those who succeed. Success does not result from books, blogs or tweets. Serve them with unstoppable loyalty and deep commitment. Put yourself in the action. In the front line under the command of people who make it happen, that’s where you will learn how to succeed- if you are capable of learning how to succeed.

Wonderful quotes – they are so inspiring!

Here’s a few of my favorites:

Hence, in view of that the above earthly famous were fulfilling that text. That is God wants us to be properous and in excellent health. I thank God that I am fulfilling that continously and that I am flourishing under Gods guidance.
