The majority of the population attributes success to “Big Ideas.” There is even a TV show on CNBC called “The Big Idea” hosted by Donny Deutsch. Unfortunately, the majority could not be more wrong.

There are almost 7 billion people in the world who collectively have nearly 168 billion man-hours in a full day. Coming up with a potential business idea takes about 7 seconds.

We do not have a shortage of ideas.

For example, when I started my online business and became successful, friends and family have all tried to pitch me money making ideas daily. Yes, daily and it gets tiresome.

Many people don’t get it and I am going to tell you why.

Doing Nothing Trumps Planning

You can create the best business plan for the best idea, but if you did nothing, it would mean nothing.

In college, I toyed with the idea of creating a menu website for college kids and local restaurants. I planned to discounts to attract the college kids and then sell advertising to the local restaurants. Unfortunately, I did nothing.

Two years later, someone else created a similar website. Its creator was earning more than $2,000 a month selling advertisements to local business.

$2,000? That is equivalent to hitting lotto for a college kid and I missed out, but I vowed to never do it again.

Just Do It

Dan Wieden, the co-founder of the advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy, created the “Just Do It” campaign for Nike in 1988.

Three words, or 8 letters, are the difference between success and failure. If you don’t “just do it,” nothing else matters. If you do “just do it,” nothing else matters.
