Ok I've liked everything I've read of yours but this? This does not make sense to me whatsoever. It sounds as if your saying as long as your proud of the work you achieve and have it in a timely manner then you are incredible. Seriously? How much garbage ends up out there do to the impatience of higher ups. Perception: I accept that there are people out there that are far more intelligent towards different things. I'm going to sit there and envy them because i didn't come up with it or present it before them. Who are they presenting it to? thats the guy. He's the one looking down on all his little minds making him who he is. Definition? What if I look in the mirror and straighten my tie and say "I'm the man" it makes me incredible? I present mediocre work to my boss who is as ignorant as myself who'll gobble it up to show his boss for credit makes me incredible compared to the guy i work next to who actually knows his shit? And timeliness, F'n deadlines. Nothing kills the human soul more then this. Hurry up and make everyone else rich while your life crumbles. Time in itself is a perception. Go ahead and build yourself up. It just sets you up for a greater fall.

@ Cath: It all depends. What kind of traffic spike are you receiving? Maybe you can shoot me an e-mail and we can discuss it further.

Hi Derek - I found you through Erica's blog and I'll be adding you to my reader.

This is a great post and it reminds me a lot of the bad thinking I used to have when I had low self esteem. It's amazing how different switching your thinking makes you feel.

When your server was down, I still think it was incredible that you managed to get over 1,000,000 visitors in the remaining 36 hours.

Do you mind if I ask a question? When I get a traffic spike, my website crashes. I don't have my own server. Does this mean I need to upgrade to a better service or would it be better to have my own server? I'm not too technical and I've noticed that getting a managed server would be quite pricey.
