Great Twitter tips! I was initially opposed to Twitter:

However, I’ve been proven wrong. I Actually like Twitter quite a bit after having given it a 1-month testdrive, and have discovered some really interesting people and content.

Hi All,

I am not very knowledgeable about Twitter, but recently I feel like i have heard more and more about it. I am not really sure I get it, and it is a little freaky how people just follow you. Recently my company (being a digital media agency) created a twitter page. Is this really the future of marketing? I find it fascinating how fast social media trends pop up. This post was great and very informative, and def shined some light on the current “twittermania”, thanks for the ideas on how to maximize the best of Twitter.

Here’s another tool that has become indispensable in my Twitter arsenal – Headup.com.

Touted as “The Semantic Web Firefox addon” Headup makes finding out more stuff about other “Twitteratti” point and click simple. Headup scours the web and reveals their Flickr photos, last.fm favorite songs, youtube liked movies, blog posts, friends – you name it.

You can read more about it on their blog :
http://blog.headup.com/2009/02/yo-tweeps-check-headup-on-twitter

Frankly it’s a little spooky at first but loads of fun.
I’ve been using it to freak people out by checking out their favorite music and then dedicating songs to them accordingly on blip.fm…
: )

This is a follow up question to one of your tweets.

If I start a tweet with ‘@followername has a good post’ does that mean the rest of my followers will not see that tweet? But If I start a tweet with ‘Make sure to see the post by @followername’ then my followers will see the tweet?

If this is true it is good info. Any links to other nuts and bolts info on Twitter would be appreciated.

Exactly. If you start a tweet with @followername, your other followers won’t see the tweet unless they are following the same person. Whereas, if you start with post by @followername … they will see it.

Derek,

Thank you so much for saving me from paying some “guru” way too much to tell me this. I need to save my dough for the right gurus as I start my internet ventures. Would you blog about how to tell when a little homework will save $$$ verses when it is a good idea to pay for it? Or have you already? If so, please point me in that direction. I am on info overwhelm with internet marketer stuff.

Here’s to a truly great year!
